Pair Of Vintage French Cane Chairs

Remember these two? Since I can't finish this chair until the UPS man comes, I thought I would get to work on these little beauties.

For most projects I don't need to spend a whole lot of time sanding but the vision I have is requiring a serious old finish removal.

Ok, did you notice the lovely pea green- gold paint on the chair? This is what happens when you try to push through your 102 fever and get some work done. Kind of funny actually, it ended up looking exactly how I felt. Lesson learned!
Restoration Hardware- Vintage French Cane Chair
This is what I had in mind when I saw them sitting in the thrift store. I don't know WHAT I was thinking with that green, goodness!

How about you? Have you ever pushed through a creative project when you just weren't feeling it? What happened? Did it turn out or did you have your own version of a pea green chair?

  5. Isn't it silly how we "push through" with fevers and all?? Why do we do this?? (I'm your newest follower and I am looking forward to reading more of your posts)

  7. I JUST started my first repurposing experiment, and even though I AM feeling it, it's not feeling me lol. It was an old free coffee table we got that was mostly made of overlayed-particle board that I decided to try to stain for our backyard and boy has it been a pain. Luckily, since I was so determined to make it work, it's slowly turning out...we shall see!

  8. I have learned te hardway to NEVER let my hairdresser cut my hair when she's sick. Her feeling awful translates into a bad haircut. I guess the same holds true for a chair re-do?
