Modern Striped Chair- The End

The Last time I left you, I was getting ready to tackle the seat cushion.
Here is how it went.

First, I took apart the original cushion cover and used it as a template to cut out the new fabric. I also made some piping.

Then I started piecing it together.

I re-used the original zipper since it was just the right size and worked just fine.

Not perfect but it looks good when you flip it over.

To get the piping around the edges I layered it in-between the top and side cushion fabric, then sewed all three together using the zipper foot on my sewing machine. The zipper foot let me get a close seam next to the piping.

And there you have it. My $20 craigslist chair had a makeover!

I made my first two cushions.

Showed you all how to use my most favorite thing in the WORLD, Curve- Ease!

And the best thing? I gave my little boy his first big boy chair. And he LOVES it.

Since I never had the chance to put his room together properly in this house, now is the time. This chair has given me the jumping off point. Hopefully this week I will get a good start on his room makeover. It is going to look great!

The fabric I used for this chair is Lauren Ralph Lauren Lila- Ticking Stripe Blue.

  17. Your new chair is just stunning. I love the blue and white stripes. And you lined the stripes up beautifully down the front. This chair would go beautifully in our blue toile Master Bedroom! Actually I have an old chair that I should redo that is already in our room. Now I may look at fabric like yours....it would be a perfect winter project for me to work on.

  28. Oh wow I reupholstered this same exact style of chair. I also omitted the skirt. Great job! I always love to see how different people upholster. I'm always looking to learn since I'm definitely an amateur and the chair was my first sewing project.

This is what it looks like now if you want to see
