Hi, I'm Andrea from Oak Ridge Revival. I was so delighted when Sarah asked me to share something with you all. I adore her blog and I have been inspired by many of her projects. She is one talented lady!
Today I thought I would share the makeover of our living room with you. We bought a big fixer upper in 2009 and while we left the major construction to the professionals, I couldn't wait to dive in to the decorating as soon as we moved in. It has taken two years to get this room just right. Who am I kidding, is a room ever really just right. I'm sure I will move things in, move things out and rearrange this room a hundred more times.
Here is the room now.
And here is where we started.
Here is a little "during" shot for you.
The home was quite outdated and new wiring and plumbing had to be added.
Therefore, the walls all had to be taken down to the studs.
New drywall and hardwood floors were added to the entire first floor.
Now back to the pretty pictures.
I bought these wingback chairs from a neighbor's yard sale and had them reupholstered
in this lovely wool fabric that I found on clearance for $4.00/yard. The lamp is a thrift store find.
It was yellow glass when I bought it. A little red spray paint transformed it.
The pillows came from Homegoods.
I scored this beautiful Baldwin piano at a thrift store for the amazing price of $75.
All it needed was a little Old English.
My two oldest children started taking piano lessons a few months ago and they love practicing in here.
I found this Chinese art at an antique store for just $14.00 each. The mats and frames sold me.
The fireplace got a complete overhaul also. We covered up the brick and added carrera marble subway tile and a new wooden surround. The artwork on the mantle was another thrift store find. It was $6.00 and the colors work perfectly for this room. I practically did cartwheels all the way out of Goodwill.
This room gets tons of natural light and it's a great place to sneak away to, curl up and read a book.
The french doors lead to the office, which was formerly a sun porch.
There are tons of before and afters on my blog. The living room not the only room in the house to get a makeover. Stop on over to my blog, Oak Ridge Revival, and you can check out the entire renovation.
Thanks Andrea!!
