Blueberry Pie

If you live in Michigan you know that it is blueberry season. There are blueberries everywhere and people who eat a lot of them tend to smell a bit like them.... Anyway we picked 5Lbs this week which I have to say is not much! Had the children been a bit more cooperative and the mosquitos a bit less hungry we easily could have picked more. But we did our best.

When we came home and the kids were in bed I made a delicious blueberry pie and then froze the rest. We ended up with 6 2 cup bags! Yum, I love frozen blueberries and they are great in the winter. It has been my experience that if you want to buy fresh blueberries in the middle of winter you have to take out a second mortgage on your house! So I try to get as many into the freezer when they are in season. I also get some through Locavorious during the winter months. If you are in Ann Arbor and would like local fruits and veggies all winter this is a GREAT service. This is our second year and we LOVE it!
