How To Clean Your Carpets

Once every three months or so I start to notice that our rugs and sofas are starting to get a little grungy. Add together three small children and one very large dog and you get some serious dirt. Now I want a clean house but I am not willing to spend and arm and a leg every time the carpets need to be cleaned. So what is a girl to do?

Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner, All- Terrain

I bought this beauty last winter. And I love her. In the past I paid a professional rug cleaning company to come in and clean one large area rug and two sofas. The cost you ask?? 500$ And may I say that my lovely Hoover SteamVac did a MUCH better job. So if I had the professional company come every 3 months it would have cost me 1200$ for the year. This machine..... 230$ and it will last for years and years. I really can't express to you how much a love it.

It does hard wood floors and carpets!

Hand held for stairs and sofas

Another great way to clean your throw pillows is the washing machine (be sure to check the labels, my pillows are all cotton or other washable fabric.) I tossed all of my throw pillows and the slip cover from one sofa into the washing machine and they came out clean, and smelling delicious.  When washing pillows and large pieces of material don't forget to throw in your wool dryer-balls. They make everything soft and fluffy.

* I am not getting paid to share this information with you. I really just LOVE this product.

  1. Someday I may need to invest in a bigger machine like this. I have a smaller one that is great for little area rugs (which is mostly what we have) but it would be nice to have one that also does furniture.

I need to do this soon for spit-up spots. When does the baby stop?! Argh!

  2. so funny. Actually the reason I bought this was because of all of the spit up spots. They were EVERYWHERE! And I think it stopped when they were about a year... gross. A friend of mine said its no longer spit up when its real food. Then its called barf:)

  4. Sarah, have you use this machine on hardwood floors too? I get so sick of scrubbing mine and a machine would make my life A LOT easier. Curious to see if it leaves behind weird lines...

  5. Mary Sue, I do. It works really well. But use earplugs while you do. Not sure why but the floor attachment makes it really loud. Or maybe it just echos a lot when you use it on the floors... Either way they are CLEAN!

  6. Curious how it works on cleaning your sofa? I have a handheld Bissell I use for the carpets but admittedly it is a lot of work to get down on my hands and knees and do the whole room with the handheld attachment. Please email me your thoughts to kidsstuffworld@gmail.com
