One of the first things I see when pulling into the driveway is my mailbox. And for the last year and a half it has looked terrible. The paint was pealing and it was dented.

This does not scream "come on in to my warm welcoming home." More like "run away!" Now that the front yard looks like a front YARD instead of a forest it was time to give this old mailbox a makeover. So I took off the old mailbox, painted the post with some paint I had leftover, and had my wonderful husband put on the new mailbox. Total cost for mailbox and numbers.... 40$.

Much better. A Simple black mailbox with a white post. A timeless classic that looks great anywhere and doesn't need to cost a lot of money. One of my neighbors even stopped by today to say that she liked the new mailbox and wanted to know where we had gotten it. I told her Lowes for about 40$. She replied "Oh, I like the expensive one's. I'll have to call my mailbox guy to put one in for us." No I am not kidding. She is interesting... What is a mailbox guy anyway?
* The old mailbox was made out of metal so I dropped it right into our recycling cart. Perfect.

Stopping by from Somewhat Simple =) LOL about the "mail box guy" haha. The new box looks great! I miss having my own, we moved recently and have those awful community boxes ugh!
ReplyDelete"Mailbox guy" I didn't know such things existed! I wonder if it's a lucrative career.
ReplyDeleteOh, and your new mailbox looks great! I too have just a boring community one I have to walk around the corner to.
LOL @ mailbox guy, do you live in my town? I miss having a mail box too. The only business in town is the tiny post office about 3 blocks down where we have a PO Box.
ReplyDeleteLooks great!
ReplyDeleteI think it's funny that she said she liked it, found out how cheap it was, and decided she needed to spend more. weird.
I have been in need of a new mailbox for a few years now. The little flag is missing, it's dented on top and the door is really hard to close.
ReplyDeleteYou've given me a little push to get it done. Thanks
Love your new mailbox by the way.
I know wasn't she funny! I'm going to have to ask her what a mailbox guy is next time I see her:)
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny about the Mailbox guy! Your mailbox looks great! Such a simple yet stunning difference!
