Transforming A Room Using Reused Furniture

The first step is admitting you have a problem right? Last week I did just that. I admitted to all of my readers that our house is seriously lacking in furniture, the walls are all white, and I can't decorate to save my life (for the full post, including before pictures, click here.) But I want to live in a gorgeous home that exudes warmth and hospitality the moment you step in the door. Talk about a problem. Lucky for me my good friend Liz, over at Designing Domesticity offered to help. I sent her a few pictures of our current layout and what we wanted to use the space for.  She sent back a great layout proposal, click here to check it out.

After getting her proposal I furiously ran around rearranging furniture and stopped by my favorite antique store in Ann Arbor, The Treasure Mart. I lucked out and found a gorgeous table to fit the space. It is sturdy, reused, a great price, and just the perfect piece for us. So without further ado here is what the room looks like today.

I'm still on the lookout for chairs and an ottoman to put by the fireplace. The sofa and television will be moving into the other room on Wednesday. But just this change has made an enormous difference in how we live. I finally feel like we are making this our home.  Stay tuned there is more to come!
