Family Room Reveal



It all started back in October with my decorating confession, remember? No furniture in a big house with zero clue what to do with it. Click, here, if you want a recap. So I called my friend Liz, over at Designing Domesticity, who so graciously offered to get me started with a floor plan and a mood board. And so it began! Here is a list of all the little projects that led up to the reveal!

I really struggled with this room at first. It is a dark cozy space with the rustic beams and fireplace. I of course, kept trying and trying to force it into a light and airy space.... some things are just impossible, without a contractor and a sledge hammer. But as soon as I embraced the room for what it was, it just fell together. The room isn't too done so to me it feels like us, like the room has been collected not decorated.

So how do you ask am I doing on my 90% reused goal? Pretty will I think! Every single item in the room was reused except for the mirror, rug, ottoman, and pillows (thanks again to Liz for the great overstock promo code!)

    Following back from the blog hop. This is just lovely! I have toddler twins and I so wish we had a more organized home. The extent of our organization so far was to purchase a toy box. I keep thinking that I need to go through and deliberately find ways to design a better working system. :) Thanks for sharing this.

    I always love before/after pictures. You did an great job. I think the biggest difference you were able to make was with the kitchen cabinets. What an amazing transformation!

    I love how the white slipcovers play off of the brick and rough hewn mantle of the fireplace. Very nice look! I'm a mom of three boys, too, and appreciate your goal of reusing your furniture and accessories. I try to do the same.

    What an improvement! I got rid of my coffee table last week and I'm on the hunt for a large foot stool, or what ever you call it, just like you have! Not sure If I want leather, I have to leather club chairs, but I want a huge stool like that. If I find one maybe I can slipcover it! Your rooms are amazing!
