She's Got Legs

I spotted this table as I was leaving my favorite used furniture store. I had already paid for the prints and frames and there she was, holding up a HUGE chandelier, hiding. I came to the store actually looking for a table to put in the center of a room, It should be an eye catcher, a piece with serious personality. I had originally thought a pedestal table was what I wanted but after much searching decided that most were too heavy for the space. I needed something a bit more refined.

What I noticed first were the legs. I mean HELLO! Yes, this table is it. Not a fan of the finish but that is easily changed. Can you imagine how striking this table will be in a gorgeous black?

12 dollars: black and white print and gold frame, timeless.
All in all it was a good day at the re-sale shop!

  1. I love the claws!

I just saw a photo of a high school friend's kitchen table. It might be a bit much when paired with those legs and the detail around the edges of your table...

She burned some scrolls/flourishes around a grid and then stained random squares in the grid with multiple colors. It's beautiful! Here's a link: http://www.facebook.com/reqs.php#!/photo.php?fbid=190961229351&set=a.403644489351.180529.723274351

  3. You did get some good finds - love the details on the table and the little claw feet. I never seem to find such good furniture at our thrift stores and when I do they are actually quite expensive.

  5. I have a table that is very similar. It belonged to my grandparents and was likely purchased in the 1915-1920 period. Somewhere along the line, it was painted black and when my father inherited it, he painstakingly stripped it and refinished the wood. I keep picturing it painted black again but can't bring myself to do it. Styles keep recycling, don't they??
