Changing Table- Before & After

I am so excited about this project. It's not very often that I get the chance to work on a piece of furniture that is going into a nursery.
But look what I was asked turn into a pretty changing table.

Before the dresser had been in my house for 30 minutes I grabbed some stripper.

Put on my gorgeous mask, safety, safety.

What is up? I never knew one of my eyes was bigger than the other. Oh, well.

Poured on the stripper and let it sit for a good long time.

Scrape, scrape, scrape.

Stained the top with Minwax's Jacobean.

I painted the bottom of the dresser with a light coat of primer and a light coat of Valspar's Antique White.

Fixed the wonky second drawer. And distressed the edges with a sanding block.

I finished it with a coat of Briwax.

The final touch was adding the clear drawer pulls. Doesn't it give this changing table just a bit more femininity?

Just perfect for a little girl's nursery, I guess I will have to wait a few more months to find out if she likes it.

But it will be waiting for her. They are picking it up this weekend.

  31. I like the amount of distress you used, not too much, just enough. And I like that you made the top dark - easier to keep clean! ;-)

  32. Stunning! I love jacobean! Mind me asking, I have refinished a number of these dressers and the drawers all slide horribly. Do you have a remedy for this? I would love for you to share your talents at my VIP party today. http://designergarden.blogspot.com/2011/09/vip-party-26.html

  35. Where'd you find the pink filters for the respirator?

I'm currently in the "stripping" phase on a dresser. I've been mulling over jacobean (recommended by my brother).

Changing table is beautiful. You did a fantastic job!
