Stay With Me Folks- String Planets For The Big Boy Room

Ok, so I am not a "crafty" girl. Furniture, sure but crafts... I struggle. But my boy needs a solar system for his room. 


So I grabbed some liquid starch, thread, and balloons. 


Blow up your balloons to the size you would like.


Soak your string in the starch, be careful here. The string tends to knot up.


Place your soaked string around the balloon.


Keep going


Hang to dry overnight. When the string is dry and hard, pop the balloon inside and remove it.


Hang from a hook on the ceiling. 

Tada, the sun!

    I just did a yarn bowl yesterday using the Stay Flo - love that stuff! Next i'm going to try the solar system. So cute!

    Uh...liar! You are SO crafty! If I had seen this about a year ago, my son would have the solar system in his room that he begged me for. Our attempt was unsuccessful. But this is way cool. Do you think you could come up with a crafty elements table idea? He has moved on from the solar system and now he's big time into elements. (I only know how to spell it...). Great job. Can't wait to see the big reveal.
