Hi there. I'm Susan, creator of Living Rich on Less. I was
thrilled when Sarah asked me to guest post this weekend on Three Boys. As
I'm sure you're already aware, Sarah is amazingly talented! Her skills in
reupholstering furniture are truly jaw-dropping and awe-inspiring. Plus,
she's a Shaklee distributor and, as I mentioned in my post on organizing under the sink, I
OK. On to this week's thrifty fall pillow project.
If you're anything like me, you like to change out your throw pillows to
reflect the season. But with throw pillows ranging in price from about $15
to $80 apiece, this can be a real budget buster. I like to look for ways
to create my seasonal throw pillows for pennies on the dollar. This is my
latest creation.

colors pictured for this project: Vanilla Bean and Summer Linen. I love
this paint because it works on many surfaces, including wood, glass, metal
and fabric. Plus it's non-toxic and weather-resistant. (For the record,
no, I am not being paid by Martha Stewart to write this. I just really do
like the stuff.)
When working with stencils, remember to press the stencil tight against
the surface to prevent any paint from bleeding under the edges. And,
for the love of Pete, try not to let that stencil shift around
while you're painting.

time and money, we could create a beautiful space without much thought.
But isn't it so more fun and rewarding when we can do it in a few minutes
with just a few bucks?
Thanks again so much, Sarah, for letting me stop by. For more ideas on how
to live rich on less, be sure to pop on over to my site.
Thanks Susan! Don't you just love those pillows? Be sure to comment, comment! Guest posters need some comment love too.
Also, if you didn't know already, I will be doing a guest post every Saturday so if you would like to be featured on Three Boys, send me an email and I would love to feature you. Shaklee testimonials, DIY, whatever you want. Saturdays are all about you!
I've been wanting to try this to make a couple of new pillows for my living room! Just gotta purchase the stuff... ha! Your pillow looks very pretty :)
ReplyDeleteYour pillows look fabulous! Great thrifty and easy tip.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I forget to look for pillow covers at thrift stores--what a great idea! That stencil you used is beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteLove that pillow cover! I need to try stenciling on fabric sometime...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for dressing up a plain pillow.
ReplyDeleteVERY cute. So funny I read this post because I'm getting ready to do some painted pillow covers this weekend! I got a pamphlet from Lowes a couple weeks ago that showed how to use felt furniture gliders to make your own stamps. I'm going to do this and stamp canvas pillow covers for my living room couch. I hope it turns out as cute as yours!! www.preparingforpeanut.com
ReplyDeleteI never thought to look for pillow covers at the thrift store. Genius!! I want to go now and do this project. Very inspiring! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great project. I love the Martha Stewart stencils and products. I'm going to have to come up with something to use them on! Thanks for the inspiration.
