Happy Saturday! I am Bonnie from Revolutionaries. I'm a recent college graduate (aka I'm broke haha), a musician (aka I'm broke), and I love all things blogging and crafting! I might have jumped up and down like a little kid when Sarah asked me if I would be interested in guest posting this weekend on Three Boys-- not only because this is my first guest post ever, but because Sarah is such a talented blogger! Her upholstery skills are amazing (I'm totally jealous!) and I wish she could come to Georgia to help me with the couch I just bought at a yard sale!
Another item I bought at a yard sale is the coffee table I am sharing with you today. It had a cute shape, but it had a laminate coating on it so I was super nervous about working on it. I was so nervous I mightttt have kept it in storage for a couple months. But then, I read this blog post at Centsational Girl about painting laminate and I decided to give it a try. Then, I saw this photo on Pinterest (um... is anyone else addicted like I am?) and fell in love.
Here are the pathetic before pictures (we had to take it apart to get it back to Georgia):

It had tons of scratches on top, as you can see. The blog I read told me that I should use Zinsser primer so.. I did.
The primer was awesome. This particular one doesn't even require sanding! But I will admit that I did sand the table a little because I was so nervous. And a little side note-- I looked like a crazy person when I yelled at this little guy for walking where I had just finished priming:
The next day, I painted the table the same yellow I painted my Sunshine dresser-- Behr's Wild Bamboo in eggshell. I waited until the next day to do the chalkboard top. Oh, and I put the table together-- all by myself! My awesome roomie helped me with the process of the chalkboard top. We taped around the edges of the top and then wrapped a sheet around the base of the table like so:
And now, my friends, here is the after:
For the adults:
For the college kid:
And for the kiddos:
I. stinkin. love. it.
So, before you think about throwing out that boring/outdated/ugly coffee table, transform it into something fresh and fun! Again, I am so honored to be a guest here on Three Boys and I hope you all will come check out my blog. Here's a sneak peek of a fall project I just posted using toilet paper rolls:
Hope you all are having a fabulous Saturday!
Toodles!
Great new design and so fun to meet new people!
