Cupcakes and Strawberry Jam

The remaining strawberries needed to be made into jam and today is the day! But first I needed to feed the boys some breakfast!! Today... strawberries (of course) and eggs from old pine farm, always yummy and milk from Calder Dairy. Clean up giant mess from breakfast and start on the jam, oh i also need to make cupcakes for C's school picnic tonight. Forgive me, not from scratch they are complements of Duncan Hines:)

it is 830am, the cupcakes are cooking. The jam is boiling away and i am waiting for the illusive gelling point. The twins are playing quietly in the other room, shocking!!

930 R & J down for their naps, processed jam jars cooling and cupcakes frosted! Still need to make a salad for the picnic but will do that this afternoon. Off to straighten up the house and get dressed for the day! Overall a productive morning:)

Also wanted to share a little trick to get anything burned off the bottom of a pot. Fill the pot with cold water, just enough to cover the scald add A LOT of salt, let sit for 8 hours then heat it on the stove. Once the water heats up take a spatula and scrape off the burned food. It comes right off!! No scrubbing needed!

  1. Hey there. I like your new blog a lot. Very good idea. Maybe when you come down here this weekend we make some of that homemade strawberry shortcake? Yes, i think so. Make sure to tell the boys I think they're all very special with a lot of potential, especially Jon. Love, Dave
