Hi everyone, today for guest post Saturday, Bonnie is visiting from A Wee Meenit to show off one of her amazing makeovers!
Take it away Bonnie!
So I stalked up on some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint last week and I knew I wanted
to use some Greek Blue first.
I drove by a thrift store I usually pop into about once a week and I saw this desk sitting
out on the sidewalk with other furniture they put out each day.
I was not planning on stopping, it was 8:30 in the morning, but when I saw
this desk, I knew I could get it for the right price-CHEAP!!
$7 to be exact. At first I thought it was missing drawers, but I realized they were just shelves.
It had some old paint and some old varnish on it, in spots, so I envisioned it as a pretty distressed piece.
I did 2 coats of Greek Blue, a pretty rough sanding, followed by one coat of very watered
down Old White which I wiped off with a damp cloth.
I then did a coat of the clear wax, followed by a coat of the dark wax. I wiped alot
of the dark off cause I really liked the brightness of the Greek Blue, but I wanted I I
it to have that aged and many layers feel to it.
I LOVE this color blue.
I have not had time to shop for some baskets for the shelves yet, so I pulled what I had in the house. Just to show what it would look like with them.
The hardware I got at Hobby Lobby for 50% off the clearance price of $1.25!!!
I love that they are frosted and have a very simple look to them.
I have never painted anything blue in my life. I am usually more of a green girl, but I think
I have been swayed by this color!! What about you, do you usually gravitate to one color for
furniture and walls??
This piece is gorgeous! I love the greek blue! Nice work :)
